GOOD BYE FOR NOW

GOOD BYE
I have really enjoyed everyone in this class. It has bein great getting to know each of you. I am sure we will met again in the near futre. Take care and Be Blessed. See you in sequence.

What I Learned in EDM 310

Technology
This class has taken me on a journey through the land of technology. And what a journey it has been. I have being exposed to so much, that I truly feel that I will be a better educator because of EMD 310. The experienced that I encountered in the class were certainly new. I have always considered myself to literate where technology was concern. But after taken this class, I was definitely proven wrong.

The blogging, podcasts, videocasts, PLN, google docs, google presentation, and google earth are all new to me. I have always read blogs of others for entertainment purpose only, but I never thought I would create one myself. I have found blogging to be an enjoyable process. It very therapeutic to share your insights and ideas on various information.

Google was thought to be a search engine. But after taken this class, I discovered it has much more to offer. Google provide free applications that can used by anyone. I will certainly be using in the near future. The google translate, I have used it a couple of times since being introduced to it. I love it. What an excellent way to introduce students to foreign language. It not just limited to Spanish, or French. It translate language that are spoken around the entire world.

I can not say enough about Twitter. I just love my twitter land. It allows me to express my self freely. Whatever I am thinking I just twitt it. I can maintain a certain level of privacy. Twitter is not so personal, like most social networks. My email, birth date, graduation date, age, social status, and my hair color, or not ever made known on twitter. I guess that's why I like it so much. My life is not on public display for the world to see.

I can see using podcast in the classroom. I am glad that I had the good fortune of learning about them in EDM 310. My students will certainly think I am a cool teacher. I will certainly be using this as a group assignments. I can see it. Coming live from Ms. Holloway Third Class today we bring the evolution of life.

I can't say there are things that I wished I had learned. Technology is changing everyday. I can only try to keep up. I cant say that I was excited by this class. I had to take in order to get into sequence. SORRY!!! This class was a challenge. Every week there was an assignment due. Boredom, trust me, you do not have time to get bored with this class. There is always something to do. In class, I always learned something new. There was something that we worked on every time we met. There is nothing I would change. The class is fine, just very demanding.

I consider myself to be technologically literate at the moment. I embrace technology. The world is changing and I know I must change with it. Technology changes everything we do from driving, learning, teaching, cooking, reading, and making calls. It even changes the way we communicate with the entire world. I realize I will never know everything, but I can sure try to educate myself. I will always try to stay a step ahead of my students.

My Personal Favorite on the Lists

These lists were very interesting. Especially, Dough Johnson's Seven Stupid Mistakes that a teachers make. I have being guilty of a few. Let's just say surfing the Internet, and sending email while at work is not a wise choice. It's better to do that at home. You never know when it will come back and hunt you. Just because you deleted it from your computer does not mean a it doesn't exist. Trust me someone is keeping track of every email, Internet site visited, and phone call that you make. Keep it business at all times.

Ignoring the intrinsic interest of tech use in today's kids. Kids like technology. Not using it as a hook to motivate and interest them in their education is stupid. This was Dough Johnson's sixth mistake a teacher makes. Technology can be used to enhance a child's education. And as an educator, it is our job to stay ahead of the students. Technology can be used in all subject matter from math, English, science, and history. It should never be ignored. Today's kids are more tech savvy than most of adults. They are surfing the Internet, joining the latest social network, playing games, and uploading videos to YouTube. Therefore, educators must stay ahead of the game.

Thinking technology in schools will go away. But it is stupid to think technology in education will go away. It isn't going away in banking, medicine, business, science, and agriculture - anywhere else in society. Anticipating that "this too shall pass" about technology is pretty stupid. Dough Johnson's seventh stupid mistake teaches make with technology. Technology is here to stay. Not only is it staying, it will continue to change. And it's changing in exponential ways. Technology is changing the way we drive, the way learn, and the way we communicate among friends. The GPS is the new map. No more getting lost on those highways and byways. We can take online class no more going to class, but I prefer going to class. There just something about that online thing. The cell keeps us connect everywhere we go. The various social networks. We are able to stay connected to the entire world. We can not afford to be a stupid tech teacher. We must get on board or else we will get left behind.

Accept the role of co-leaner. Brilliant teachers not only accept the dismal fact that they will never know all there is to know about technology, they also turn that condition into a classroom advantage by having their brilliant children teach them how to do something techie now and then. This Dough's Johnson fifth point that brilliant teachers do with technology. I must admit, I will probably never know everything about technology. I will be willing to learn from my students. I would love for them teach me something new. Just to think, they know something there teacher don't.

Dough Johnson's number six thing a brilliant teacher does with technology is use the kids’ own devices to teach them. There are so many devices available to kids. They have ipods, phone with camera and video recorder, laptop computers, and playstations 3. These all can be used as an educational tool. Kids can develop blogs and podcast.
They create projects by documented certain species and flowers. There games that kids can play to enhance their knowledge of all subject matter. The kids will be learning will using their on gadgets. What an excellent way to trick them into learning.

The Education Innovation had some great classroom rules to use with technology. These rule are certainly new and was none existence ten years ago. Use polite speech when speaking blogging, texting, twittering, and instant messaging. These rules do not apply to me. I have broken these rule more than once. And you can kiss my keyboard @:#) #_. Yeah that's what I was going to say. Kids should be made of aware that somethings are not meant to be said in the virtual word. We are able to hit delete, but there is always a record somewhere. So be careful. This rule should certainly be enforce in the classroom. Students will be blogging, texting , instant messaging, twittering, and using facebook. Please keep it clean at all times.

Keep your hands to yourself, but share all your ideas and knowledge with others in your Personal Learning Network. Knowledge is meant to be shared. Hands not so much. Sharing our information allows for constructive criticisms and critique from our peers. This allow the students to learn from their mistakes and make progress in the future. The students become the teacher when they share their experience and knowledge. We should all learn from someone or something. So please share with me and keep your hands to yourself.

Teacher's Desk

skype
facebook
twitter
I really enjoyed this blog. It reminds me of a certain class, EDM 310. Yeah thats what this blog brings to mind. A collaborative blog such as this one is very important for present educators as well future educators. The blog on twitter was very interesting. The teacher posted a simple question about probability and got a response back from several educators. The information that was given had to be helpful given the sources. Twitter has become a new passion of mine. I absolutely, positively, love my twitter. I will certainly use this to my advantage when I enter the world of teaching. What a helpful tool to have at my finger tips. Just to think that I am not alone. When I need clarity on differnet subjects, why not post it on twitter.

The skping between classroom was exciting to read about. Two classrooms from different parts of the world were able to connect via skpe. The students were able to gain insight on other students approaches to education. What an excellent way to learn. Only if this was available lets say twenty years ago. That would have made for an interesting classroom assignment.

Teachers sharing their ideas and innovative ways of teaching can certainly help me in the future. As a teacher, you can gain insight and knowledge on other subjects. You can learn ways to present them to your class. Engage the students in interactive learning. I will certainly be returning to The Teacher's Desk.

Michael Wesch

Michael Wesch

I am a twitter addict. I post at least four or more times a week. I must admitt, if I had choose between twitter and facebook. I will choose twitter any day. It allows me that anonymity to say what I want. I know there are others reading my twitts, but they can't see me, there is no connection. They can not hold me accountable for my feelings or thoughts. I feel that is me against the world. Facebook is a whole another story. That's were my classmates, friends, and family hang out. I am not as open on facebook. I know they will judge me, and become questionable. Like a certain follower on my twitter account. I want call you out this time.

"That hurt Charlie." Now that was a funny you tube video. Did they win a million dollars for that? I have watched an occasional you tube video for entertainment purposes and educational. But, I will never engaged in creating a video for myself to post on the web. Why would I want the world in my life. I am a very private person. Let me see, I sit in front of a camera and talk to it. I do that in the car and if it's not recorded there, then forget about it. The whole world does not need to know that I talk to myself from time to time. I am not crazy. Just check out the you tube videos. Just imagine all this time I thought I was the only one.

But kids, think different than adults. I can see how I can use this in classroom. Kids love dancing, performing, and singing. They can develop a play and record it to air on you tube. Hollywood here comes Ms. Holloway's Third Grade Class. Playing soon in a theatre near you.

Why Posts to Blogs

This is my first experience with blogging. I can defintely see the importance from an educational stand point. Blogging give kids a place to share their educational experiences and talents. It provides them with feedback on improvements. By sharing their work with others, they are constantly striving to become better. People all over the world are giving the opportunity to view their success. They are learing from critics, which will defintely help later in life. What a valueable tool for kids. Blogging is a teacher without the teacher. click here View to learn about Kaia's world. What an excellent teacher.

The PS222 choir was amazing. It shows how blogging allows kids, and teachers to share their knowledge around the world. These kids voices should defintely be on public display. So much talent should be shared with everyone. So why not blog about postive aspects of kids talent and learning experiences. Let them see, how much other people admire their gifted ability. It should be shared with everyone. And blogging allows them to do just that.

Like I stated before blogging is defintely new to me. I have always being familiar with Perez Hilton, YBF, TMZ, and other blogs that provide the latest dirt of lives of the rich and famous. But EDM 310 has provide with the educational insight of blogging. What a valuable tool that will certainly be used by me in the future. This is a wonderful educational tool. It allows me to share my thoughts and opinions with world. This is my link to EDM 310 http://hollowaytedm310fall2009.blogspot.com/

Kaia's World

Kaia's World
Kaia's World
I was surprise that this blog actually started because of a book titled The Child in the Woods. A father trying to reconnect his daughter, Kaia, to the world around her. Little did he know, that he was connecting her not only to her surrounding, but to the entire world. A school in Missouri was reviewing Kaia's world and seeing things from a three year old perspective of the world around her.

Technology is truly changing learning. A blog allowed these kids to connect to Douha the capital of Qatar. On the Persian Gulf next to Bahrain and Dubai. I was able to look up the location using google. I honestly never knew it existed until today. That's what technology allowed me to do today. I do not have map and the library is closed on Sundays. Thank you Google.

These kids are learning not from textbooks but from technology. It opened up a new world for them. They were even able to talked with Kaia's father using Skype. These kids were curious about Kaia's life. They were engaging in a activity that involved discovering the outdoors, learning about other countries and cultures. The knowledge that they acquired from this blogged is not something written in a textbook. It was certainly not in any of my textbooks from school. Did I mention I never heard of Douha before today. See that wasn't in my textbook.

This has open my eyes to a new way of learning. There is no doubt that technology is changing everyday. Therefore, it is sure to have a huge impact on education and the way students are learning. Students are able to explore the entire world. There are no limitation. Textbooks provide the bare minimal ,if you ask me. But technology is like the ocean. It is wide, deep, vast, enormous, there is no end.

New Media Literacy Project

New Media Literacy Project is allowing student to become better thinkers. The allow give the challenge to distinguish between gossip, opinion, and raw messages. They given the opportunity to identify the facts that will allow to become informed citizens and consumers in society. With so much information available from the web, it important for students to develop critical thinking skills.

The students will become journalist, and historian. The will engaging in several different education experience from one project. They will be able to take information and decide what they consider to be of importance.

New Media Literacies

New Media Literacies skills are needed by everyone. These skills are certainly used are on daily basis in every faucet of life. The video is applying using these skills in regards to technology. Trans media navigation, simulation, judgement, and visualization are certainly used for technology. Navigating the internet is certainly a new skill for the 21st century. These are certainly skills that we all have acquired within the last 10 years. The simulation and visualzataion skills are certainly skills that are should be applied to new media literacies skills. We are learning them as we navigate the web.

Judgement skills should be used by everyone. Even though at times, some people tend not to exercises their best judgement. I certainly feel that this is not a new skill for the 21st century. I do not possess all of these skills. Ask me to negotiate. I have never being a good negotiator. And I am not trying to learn. I am mother and a student. Therefore, I am always multitasking.

I am positive that I will acquire these skills as I have a need for them. As a future educator, I know I will be using all of these skills. I will be performing in front of a classroom and use judgement everyday. I will negotiates with students so that they strive for excellence. There will be games that I will certainly love to play. No, doubt I will be multitasking on everyday. That's what teachers do best.

Networked Student

I am that networked student. I am still in the process of developing my PLN. I am navigating my way through all these different sites. I learning about blogging, podcasting, itunes, and other sites. Learning has truly changes compared to 10 years ago. My computer class ten years ago required a book and a floppy disc. There was no skpe, google, itunes, podcast, and there were certainly no internet to search.

I have a lot of learning ahead of me. I am not prepared to be a teacher of a networked student. I can barely keep up with my EDM 310 class. I am learning something new every week. Somebody please enlighten me on Skpe, Delicious, and wiki. My brain is in technology overload. There is no book required for this class, you would think that would make it easy. Yeah right. There is more to learn without a book. The web has more info than any book can ever capture. I would rather read a book. The learning never stops.

I must admit, this class is preparing me to teach that future networked student. I have become aware of many things from this class. I will be able to guide my students as they retrieve various information from the web. They will be able to differentiate what's a reliable source. This will allow them build on their learning process. They will make contacts with various people around world that will be useful to them for years to come.

This is How We Dream Parts 1 and 2

Richard Miller says writing in the culture has changed. And that we are living in the greatest change in human communication. I can certainly agree with that. The internet definitely changed the research process. Richard Miller stated that you can conduct research without ever stepping inside of a library. The information is available via the world wide web. Does the library still exist? Will tomorrow students every meet the local librarian? I think not. Like Miller stated pencil, paper, library have certainly being replaced with laptop and the desktop. Research can be conducted from any library in the world.

The old method of research has faded away with technology. What ever happened to checking out books, clipping newspaper articles, the microfiche machine. That machine took forever to look up magazine and newspaper articles. Technology is truly heaven sent.

I am new to this multimedia writing process. I will be honest and say I am not prepared to write in multimedia as of today. There is so much to learn. You can add video and sound to documents. Let me just type the document. I will try to add video and sound later.

Today's students are so technology literate that I know for fact that they will probably have this mastered. I will be learning from them. I try to stay ahead of this tech thing but I know there are things that still elude me. I would love to apply multimedia in the classroom. Being that it can be a collaborative project, the students can engage in working with students around the world. This will truly be an excellent learning tool in the classroom.

IPods

apple ipod

I thought iPods were used for downloading music. But then again, I have been wrong before. You can also use your iPod as a hard disk to store files, back up your work, or transfer files from one computer to another. iPod is simply a tiny storage device with a screen, audio hardware, and a special case. Standard iPods use miniature hard drives, while iPod shuffles use memory chips. Both are as good at storing data as they are at storing music

Teachers are now using iPod's in place of traditional cassette or CD listening centers.I don't even know if they still make cassettes players and in about another years Cd's will be obsolete as well. You can easily record your own voice reading the stories in digital audio format therefore any book can become a part of your iPod listening center.

http://www.pre-kpages.com/ipods.html

Duke University gave each of its 1,650 incoming freshmen a free iPod in fall 04 as part of an initiative to foster innovative uses of technology in the classroom. My school never gave a free pencil, book, paper, or anything. South its time to play catchup. Ipods are now being used inside the classroom. The device can store up to 10,000 songs on their hard drive. That's more CDs than I can every possible think about owning. I not sure if I could find that many song to download.

Students were able to use the device to download course content, record lectures, foreign language lessons, audio books will be able to use the devices to download course content, foreign language lessons, and audio books . I need to get me one of these things. I did not know it could do all of this. It would make my learning experience so much better.

Other sites that are helpful with the ipod usage are as follow:

http://www.uberreview.com/toptenipoduses.html

http://kottke.org/plus/50-ways-ipod/

i Tunes University

I think I have used i tunes once and that was just for listening to music. So other than that, I know nothing about the uses of i tunes. I will admit until now, I was illiterate as far i tunes is concern. So will i tune university accept me as student? I see that it can be used for many things in classroom and outside of the classroom. Music is what I have always associate with i tunes, but there are other uses for i tunes. I must do better with all this new technology. How will I ever keep up?

This site will be useful for me as a student and as an educator. There are lectures that I can for further education resources. The site is free and can be used by anyone. I can find virtually every subjects on itunes. I can view lectures from other university and find resources that will help me become a better educator inside the classroom.

These are specific links that can used.

Teaching and Education under 'Categories'2)
Colleges and Universities, K-12 under 'Find Education Providers'

Dr. Christie's Site

Dr. Christie's Site is extremely informative for an future educator as myself. Her main focus is the use of technology in the classroom. With over forty years of experience, she has certainly experience the technology explosion in the classroom. This site is great resources for educators using technology in the classroom.

The Internet has changed the lives of many and it certainly is changing the way students are being taught in the classrooms. Dr. Christie's guide for web searching and researching is a valuable tool that can be used in the classroom. It has excellent resource for online tools for teachers as well as students. Dr.Christie's give excellent sites that can utilize in the classroom from K-12.

These are some the links that were listed at Dr.Christie's Web Site.

With the ever increasing budget cuts, the web can be used for virtual field trips in classroom. This is an excellent resource for the teacher. You never have to leave the classroom. The simulations allow the kids to participate in a fun activity while learning at the same time.

This site is one that I will be sure to visit again in the future.

What I've Learned This Year by Mr McClung

stay positive
This was an excellent essay on first year teaching. It gives me insight on what my first year will be like. I know that school can only prepare me for so much. But most of my learning will come from hand on experience, in my own classroom alone with my students. I am sure I will have the same experiences as Mr.McClung.

Be Flexible and always ready for change. I know that nothing is perfect. And things will not always go my away. I will want to follow my lessons plan daily but I know that sometimes things don't always go as we plan. Therefore, flexibility will be a part of my classroom.

Communication is key to everything we do in life. Communication with students and coworkers will be very important. There should always be an open line of communication in workplace. Being in the classroom communication will be displayed daily with students. They should always feel comfortable with you as a teachers. To resolve issues any of sort, communication is the key.

As teachers we should always be reasonable. We should always want the best from our students but sometimes we tend to forget that they are kids. We must remember when we were in school and how did we handle certain situations. No one is perfect. Not even me.

Technology is key in today's world. Always stay one step ahead of kids. It's constantly changing everyday. Never be afraid to learn something new. Because kids will always now what the next hot tech gadget. The are born with technology on the born. We just need to stay ahead of them at all times. No matter how challenging it may be.

Listen is very important skill. We expect kids to listen to everything we say. But we should also listen them. They have a voice also. Sometimes kids teach adults something. Always be willing to listen.

Never stop learning. We as future educators are responsible for teaching kids. We want them to learn daily. But what about us. Learning does not stop after school. If you ask me it begins when we exit those doors.

Wickipedia

wikipedia
I can honestly say that I use Wikipedia for information. But now I will think twice about the source of my information. I believed that the information given by Wikipedia was accurate. This article has taught never too use them as a reference for anything.

The scanner device was an excellent tool to trace erroneous information back to the source. This will certainly stop information from falsely being reported. That just goes to show that not all resoruces are realiable. Use multiple sources such as books, newspapers, magazines. But technology have made that nearly impossible for this new tech generation. Research is only as good as the source if you ask me.

Randy Pausch's Last Lecture

I really enjoyed watching video. Dr. Pausch showed great dedication and passion for everything he did in life He never lost his childlike spirit even when facing a terminal illness. He set goals in life and in weird way was able to satisfy each one of those goals. His challenges became brick walls that he did not allow to defeat him. "Brick wall were there to stop people who don't want it badly enough." Dr. Pausch went through all of his brick wall with success.

Dr. Pausch discuss enabling the childhood dreams. This is an important lesson, I think as an future educator my job will be to enable the dreams of my students. I would encourage them that their dreams are obtainable. Dreams allow us to think the unimaginable and to go where no man has gone before. They can determine our outcome in life. As kids, we all have dreamed of one day becoming the greatest football player, dancer, teacher, or actor. We should never stop dreaming of becoming the best at we do. My job will be to nurture the dreams of my students. Let them explore and grow. Dream the unthinkable, look past of what is in front of you. Make your dreams become a reality.

The head fake technique was an excellent learning tool. It allows the students to have fun while learning. The student are engaging in fun activity but at the same time learning something that's difficult. They are being psych into learning. The students are being provided with hands on experience. Pausch said "Experience is what you get when you didn't get what you want." The students are gaining valuable experience with a twist. The are completely unaware of the learning experience. This should be applied to all subjects in school.

Randy Pausch says never to give up. He certainly never gave up on life. He keep going until the very end. Students should never give up no matter what the circumstances. As a future educator, I want my students to always give their best. Never let the brick wall stand in the your way. It should be viewed as motivation. Find ways to go around it or go through it. Dr. Pausch say "don't complain just work harder." Hard work always pays off in the end.

Fisch: Is It Okay to Be A Technologically Illiterate Teacher?

No, it is not okay to be a technologically illiterate teacher. According to Fisch, "All educators must achieve a basic level of technologically capability." Teacher should at least know how turn on a computer, and operate the world wide web. But it still amazes me many people are still computer illiterate. Technology surrounds us every where, from the grocery store to the local library.

I feel that teachers should be able to operate the technology that's in the classroom. They should be smarter than the average fifth grader. Kids today can create things on a computer that I just ask myself "How did you do that?" Please do not ask me about Myspace. Does that mean I am technologically illiterate? I have mastered Facebook though.

As future educators we should never stop learning. We need to stay twenty steps ahead of our kids in the classroom. Education is important on all levels from science to math. Teachers should feel the same about technology. Its becoming a powerful tool in today's society. It surrounds us everyday. They have drink machine that take debit cards these days. What ever happen to change. Its no escaping this tech thing. We will either learn as it grows or get left behind.

"It's Not About the Technology" by Kelly Hines

I agree with Ms. Hines that is takes an effective teaher thats willing to continue to learn in order to be effecctive in the classroom. Technology is just a tool that can be used to enhance the learning atmosphere. The ipod, wiki, and blogs should be viewed as an addition to the education process. It is not the total process. Teachers should be trained to incorporate these technology advancement into their lessons not as a substitue for teaching but as an ongoing process for education their class on successful uses of technology as part of their education experience

Technology has made several transition throughout the years.I suspect as the 21st century continues from year to year there are more developments being made that will become part of the education process. It will forever be changing. Yesterday advancement will be oboselte as I type.

Students should be expose to technology in classroom as a part of their learing experience. It should not viewed as a tool for only surfing the web or playing games but as a tool to expand on their educational advancement. Technology can be used in every dimension of the classroom. The teacher can incorporate technology in every subject. It can used an interactive tool to allow the kids to become involve in their learning process. Technology should never be viewed as a substitue for effective teaching but as an addition to a process that is forever changing.

Michael Wesch: A Vision of Students Today

This video did a great job capturing today's student. Today's college student use technology everyday. They are texting, emailing, or surfing the web. Their cell phones are on the desk and constantly being checked for the missed call or that next text message. The labtop are use to stay connected to facebook.

I have purchased books that were never used or referenced to in class. I have to admitt I will spend more time emailing and texting than preparing for class. Facebook is my material of choice as of now. I find it to be more informative than any textbook I have ever purchased for a hundred dollars or more.

I have being in class to have the person next to me only show up for the exam. I could never understand the reason for that. But I susppose it works for some not all. I would like to know what's the secret.

The student debt I can totally sympatize. I sometimes wonder will I die before this debt is paid off. I really don't want to know the answer that.

I would like to know how many are part of fraternity or sorority. It could provide the number of drinks that a college student consumes a week. The number of hours that an average college student spends partying. I would like to know how many have gotten spending tickets and DUI tickets. What's the number of students that drive while texting.

Next Generation Learning

The delivery of this video was great. The 6th grader was right I never had a computer in my classroom. The are equipped with so much technology. They have interactive chalk board, that acts as a computer. That was a neat tool to be used in the classroom. The classes also have digital camera that kids use to do produce project. I can have imagined in the sixth grade producing a project using a digital camera.
I really liked the technology that helps kids participate in the classroom without actually being called on. I was that shy kid that sat in the back class and prayed that the teacher never called my name. With this technology even the shyest kid can participate in group discussing and give answer to questions.
The downloading and uploading of homework was neat. I forgot to do it or the dog it, can no longer be use in the classroom. Even if a child is out sick, they are able to keep up with all of their assignments from home. And its easier to grade for the teacher.
I believe that all schools should make technology their number one priority. Technology is changing the lives of kids. Its making them want to learn. They are playing the Wii. The Wii trains their brain to think and it also provides a workout for their body. They are getting a two for one deal.

Podcast

The site that I visited was http://langwitches.org/blog/podcasting/ Podcasting with 3rd graders. They did an excellent job with their podcasts. The included sound effects that to go along with their subject. They research the endangered species of Florida. The kids provided facts as to why certain species were endangered and whats the animal natural habitat. The gave details about what to food the animals and how we can prevent certain species for becoming extinct. These kids were very upbeat in delivering their message. They really got my attention. These 3rd grader really did their research.

I learned to be informative and state the facts. I also learned that including sound effects and getting the audience attention was very important. Speaking clear and communicating effectively is a big part of these podcast. The audio should also be free of any distraction. The clearer the audio the better

Tech Literature Teacher

They seem to be unprepared for the conservation. They stated mainly their opinions. It is clear that no research was done prior to doing the video podcast. It not a very informative videocast. It just seems to be a lot of general conservation. I would like to prepared for my topic, therefore research will have to done before discussing any particular issue.

The background was a distraction. The scened should have being set up with some technology. They could have provided some examples as a demonstration. That would have made for an interesting discussing.

Podcast

What is a podcast? That's what I need to ask myself. This is honestly my first time becoming aware of the many podcast. I am still confused about the whole podcast. It appears to be just radio announcer discussing technology I am totally unaware of.

The Smart Board Lesson "Year End Ideas for Classrooms and Schools " was two people discussing their daily lives. Its took them about nine minutes to discuss what they were pod casting. The audio in the beginning was not good. It took several minutes before it was adjusted. This podcast left me confused. Their concept was not relayed in the first couple minutes.

KidCast "Pod casting in the Classroom" was the most professional of all the podcast. This podcast was setup as a mini conference. Dan discussed the different microphone the unidirectional microphone and omini microphone. He also discussed how podcast can be used as an educational tool in the classroom. I learned that Web 2.0 has allowed us all to become producers via the web by blogging, flicker, facebook, pictures and bandwidth to support sound.

Connect Learning Podcast "Academic Aesthetic was very short. The pod caster just blogged about things he felt was important. He talked about going out of town, being at his father in law house, and a science fiction book. Ed Techtalk was very clear. It went into detail about google doc. Google docs has templates that have been requested by a lot of user, just not by me. The templates can be shared with the entire world or just within the school. The hidden templates has resume and lesson plans. Mac Break Weekly was two people that were intrigue with Macintosh and all it had to offer. They discussed skype, myfi, and twitter. I can barely keep up with all this technology. The last podcast This Week in Photography was a discussing about a camera. Just when I thought it could not get any better.

I have come to the conclusion that a podcast can be about anything you want to talk about. I am sure if you think it you can certainly podcast about it. This technology will be a great tool in the classroom. The kids can podcast about their lessons and teach others. This will truly be an educational tool that I would like to incorporate in my classroom one day.

Vicki Davis: Harness Your Student's Digital Smarts

Vicki Davis made the statement that she is learning from the students. The way that technology is advancing everyday, I feel that I am learning from my son. Students today learn through technology. Its great to see how a rural school could visit a middle eastern country using technology. The students are sharing their knowledge with schools in other states as well as around the world. They are not only learning but they are teaching each other. They are incorporation group skills. These skills are proven to be valuable in the work place.
Schools has really changed from ten years ago. There were no such thing as blogs and virtual tours in the classroom. The students have so much information at the touch of a button. The world is at their fingertips. They can literally visited another country with just one click. Technology is truly changing the world as we know it.

Sir Ken Robinson: The Importance of Creativity

Sir Ken Robinson says that everybody is born with creativity, and the creativity diminishes with education. There are more kids today than ever being placed on medication for ADHD. They have being diagnosed by doctors as being over active or maybe their just over creative. The creativity of kids is not being nurtured in the education system. We are losing talented kids but we refuse to change the way we teach. The funding is lacking for the arts and their is no time in the class room for anything other than math and language. There are no room for mistakes. The kids are taught to pay attention, sit down, and be quiet. The class clown , the dancer, the singer, the artist can we honestly expect them to sit down, be quiet, and pay attention for eight hours.
Just like the dancer that was mention in the video, these kids are unable to sit still for an entire day. They learn different than most students. There creativity is there math and language arts.

Did You Know

Technology is changing everyday, so much that video "Did You Know" is know obsolete.Technology has changed the way people communicate all over the world. My Space has became the 5th largest country in cyberspace. The number of text messages sent daily exceeds the total population. According to "Did You Know"by 2013 there will a computer that exceeds the computational capabilities of the the human species. India would be the only country to out think a computer considering they have 394 babies born per day and the have more honor students than America. The music industry has suffered from the ever changing technology with 694,000 songs download illegally who pays for CDS anymore.
Google has definitely changed the way kids learn. I remember going to the library to actually look up books from the catalog, but with today's technology you just google everything. I am positive that the library exist, I just have not visited one in a long time. This generation communicate everything in text lingo. I am pretty sure that the English language will be adding LOL,OMG,TMI, and other text lingo to English dictionary. As long as technology keeps growing, I will never stop learning.
